Small, intense and unique... These are the white sesame seeds or shirogoma. With this seasoning you can say that the best essences are kept in small jars, because the intensity of sesame seeds is just the touch your meals need.
Known worldwide as ‘the nuggets in the hamburger bun’, sesame seeds are now something more. Japanese cuisine has been the culprit for many dishes with sesame seeds in their preparation and what a great discovery. We love the sweetness it adds to all foods, even savoury recipes.
Before we reveal what your favourite foods will be from now on, did you know that sesame seeds come from a tiny plant? It is 2 to 4 millimetres long and is found in India and Africa.
And in case you run out of culinary ideas, here are three recipes to give your wrist a free rein with our shirogoma seasoning:
- Hawaiian poke: Its mix of avocado, salmon, edamame and a touch of white sesame combine so well that it will leave you speechless. It's a quick and tasty option for your palate.
- Tuna tartar with avocado: tuna, soy, avocado and sesame seeds, that's the secret to a tartar that you'll want to repeat again and again. Although its origin is not in Japan, Japanese food lovers will already know what we are talking about and, if you haven't tried it yet, don't wait any longer because it will be your favourite recipe.
- Chicken teriyaki: Chicken teriyaki is a mix of savoury food with a sweet touch, and it is also very easy to prepare. The secret to this recipe is none other than shirogoma or sesame seeds.
Regional Co. is a company founded in 1921 by Vicente Navarro Navarro in Novelda, a town in the province of Alicante. From its beginnings, the company was dedicated to the sale and marketing of spices and saffron in bulk, as at that time there was a growing trade in these products brought both from La Mancha, in the case of saffron, and from the Far East, in the case of spices.
During its early years, thanks to the commercial trips on which its owner embarked, Regional Co. managed to become a benchmark company, consolidating and continuing to grow for many years.
Nowadays, Regional Co. does not have a licence or facilities for the handling and packaging of spices, but its function is more commercial, always looking for new product approaches, new places to introduce them and positioning the brand both online and offline. Its objective is not so much to be a production factory and dedicate itself to the packaging and creation of the product, but to create a brand and position itself in the market as a leading company within the gourmet market in the variation of spices, with innovation and differentiation being the fundamental value for which Regional Co. is standing out in the market.
