Ceylon cinnamon stick comes from the brown bark of a tropical tree, the cinnamon tree. It is a discovery for the palate and once you start using it in your recipes and cocktails, you won't be able to stop. The bark is rolled into a metre-long branch and left to ferment for 24 hours. After separating the outer layer and rolling the inner layer, the well-known Ceylon cinnamon stick is formed.
Ceylon cinnamon stick is a spice prized for its sweet aroma and warm, slightly spicy taste. It comes from the inner bark of a tree called Cinnamomun zeylanicum, which is native to Sri Lanka (formerly known as Ceylon), and is characterised by its high quality and milder, more delicate flavour than other varieties of cinnamon.
What would rice pudding be without its hint of cinnamon? With that powerful effect of cinnamon stick, it will transport you and make you feel as few other spices do. Besides its unmistakable flavour, its smell is unique and loved by many people to scent their home, in candles or perfumes. Did you know that it also works as a mosquito repellent? It is incomparable.
It is one of the most recognised spices and has a place of honour in every kitchen. Its uses are infinite, not only in sweets and desserts, but also in savoury recipes. Adding a little piece of cinnamon stick will take your dish to another level.
If you're looking for a savoury recipe in which to add this ingredient, start by trying chicken with sultanas and cinnamon sticks. It's a real delicacy and all you need to do is add a splash of oil to a pan with onion and cinnamon sticks to give it all the flavour of this spice.
Do you prefer to innovate in cocktails? You can include cinnamon sticks directly, but the best thing to do is to prepare a cinnamon syrup by infusing it with water and sugar for 10 minutes and then add a few drops to your cocktail. It will go great with rum and apple, lemon or lime juice. Another option is to combine it with apple or pear juice and whisky. Do you dare to experiment?
Regional Co. is a company founded in 1921 by Vicente Navarro Navarro in Novelda, a town in the province of Alicante. From its beginnings, the company was dedicated to the sale and marketing of spices and saffron in bulk, as at that time there was a growing trade in these products brought both from La Mancha, in the case of saffron, and from the Far East, in the case of spices.
During its early years, thanks to the commercial trips on which its owner embarked, Regional Co. managed to become a benchmark company, consolidating and continuing to grow for many years.
Nowadays, Regional Co. does not have a licence or facilities for the handling and packaging of spices, but its function is more commercial, always looking for new product approaches, new places to introduce them and positioning the brand both online and offline. Its objective is not so much to be a production factory and dedicate itself to the packaging and creation of the product, but to create a brand and position itself in the market as a leading company within the gourmet market in the variation of spices, with innovation and differentiation being the fundamental value for which Regional Co. is standing out in the market.
