The history of Paco Lafuente dates back to 1904 when Francisco Lafuente Torrón started a fish salting factory in O Castro, Vilanova de Arousa (Pontevedra), the preservation method of the time.

Currently, the company is in the original location in Vilanova de Arousa (Pontevedra) and is 100% owned by the Lafuente family. It is managed by Ramón and Francisco Lafuente, Rosa's nephews, Manuel's grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the founder.

Today, they continue to maintain the know-how of decades of traditional production, selecting and packing the products by hand and without adding any chemical products. They work with a wide range of products, ensuring the acquisition of raw materials of the highest quality.

Their location in Vilanova de Arousa, in the heart of the estuary to which it gives its name, allows them to obtain excellent raw material for their preserves, as they continue to produce products mainly from the Rías Gallegas and the Coast.

The Ría de Arosa, due to its unique characteristics, is rich in minerals and nutrients, provided by its rivers and special protection from the northern currents by the islands of Cíes, Ons and Sálvora. These special characteristics favour the development of a very particular marine biodiversity.
