Campo de Montiel has central facilities for cataloguing, classifying and packaging the oils and, since 2001, a logistics center for marketing and distributing the oils in Villanueva de los Infantes (Ciudad Real).
Our oil is characterized by its clean appearance and color, which varies from greenish yellow to golden yellow depending on the harvest date.
It has a great fresh fruitiness reminiscent of green apples. On the palate, this fruitiness is accentuated by very pleasant notes of sweet almond.
The Campo de Montiel region, in the heart of La Mancha, the geographical, historical and literary reference of Cervantes in his book "El Ingenioso Hidalgo D. Quijote de La Mancha", in the south of the province of Ciudad Real, is an area that produces a very special virgin olive oil.
The main reason for this is the rigorous climatic conditions and the altitude of the land, situated at over 700 metres above sea level.
Our oil is obtained from two main varieties of olive.
The Cornicabra variety is the predominant one, and since time immemorial has adapted like no other to the rigors of La Mancha's winters, as well as to our hot summers.
The Picual variety is another of our important varieties, originating in Jaén and, because of its proximity, recently introduced, acquiring its own personality in our region.
